Full Time Mentor Vacancy
 

Do you want to make a difference? Work with young people with hidden talent? CHILL'D is an expanding alternative provision based in 3 centres. 2 in Camp Hill and 1 just outside of Nuneaton. 

 

We are looking for 2 more Mentors to work 1-1 with young people who need unconditional positive regard and support to reach their potential. Generally let down by our rigid education system they respond well to a nurturing and graduated approach. As we increase in popularity and size we need more staff. You may have worked as a Teaching Assistant (or equivalent name) in a mainstream or special school; as a youth worker; in social care or as a parent; we are open to all applications. 

 

A session with a young person is 3 hours; door to door for them! We prefer drivers but it is not essential. You may work with them at Our Cabin near Hoar Park; cooking, learning or chilling. Alternatively, we have a multi-use space at Unit 5 on Pool Road "The Place" and a designated mechanics base next door at Unit 6. Sessions also use the community – particularly for life skills. Our aim is to give young people the skills and qualifications they need for employment; this includes Functional Skills and AQA unit awards. Our young people are currently 13 to 20; we are registered for ages 5 to 25. 

 

These posts are offered at 42 weeks (school terms + 3 weeks, flexible holiday) a year with an ACTUAL salary of Mentor level 1 £22,336 to Mentor level 3 £26,413. Promoted posts with leadership skills are envisaged in the near future on our scales of Mentor level 4 £28,586 to Mentor level 6 £33,519. (The equivalent full time annual salaries are Mentor1 £27,654 to Mentor 6 £41,500.) Salaries are decided by the directors based on skills and experience.

We have our official opening of  "The Place" on Sunday 4th October from 12 to 4; you would be very welcome to attend. 

 

Closing date for applications is 0900 on Monday 5th October. Shortlisting will take place that day and we plan to interview on Wednesday 7th October. The interview process will enable you to see our settings, meet some staff and young people, and share your experience, skills and ideas.
